Grooving. Sexy. Beats. Reborn.
If you were on the internet in the early 2000s, you might remember a Winamp/Shoutcast station called Monkey Radio — chillout, down-tempo, trip-hop, and smooth jazz, an eclectic mix of artists you’d be unlikely to hear on traditional radio.
This site is an unofficial tribute to the old station: album reviews from the old rotation, an ongoing project to track down exactly what it played and rebuild it, plus a live stream you can tune into. The original creator isn’t affiliated with Monkey Radio Archive at all – this is just a collection of internet history and a way to learn about the 90s-00s music it featured.
What you’ll find here
- Chasing the Monkey — the hunt to rebuild the station: the forum playlists, the old CDs, and the consolidated album list.
- Reviews and Musings — revisiting the records from the old rotation one at a time, plus broader writing about the station.
- Groove@192kbps — the stream is live; tune in.
Groove@192kbps
The stream is live. Head to Groove@192kbps to hit play in your browser, or point any internet-radio player at the direct stream. Then dig into the reviews and musings while you listen.
